June 6 Events

An important aspect of our mission here at HELPERS is to provide educational programming on topics of interest to us seniors. It’s never too late for us to gain knowledge and learn new things! Lifelong learning opportunities inspire and stimulate us while helping to stave off feelings of loneliness. As we gather to “get smart,” we are also provided with an opportunity to socialize. And as we know, social engagement is an important factor that influences our well-being. Research indicates that learning new things provides us with many benefits including improving our memory and cognition, boosting our confidence and self-esteem, and improving our mood. We invite you to join us at any, or all, of our educational and social activities! (Source: goldencarers.com)

The two-hour event includes a one act play performed by professional actors who bring to life real issues connected to the care, diagnosis, and experience of dementia and how relationships can be tested in unexpected ways. Following the performance, audience members take part in a facilitated conversation about the themes, metaphors, and impact of memory loss depicted in the play.
